So I have been tweaking the website a bit. When we first rolled out mybattalion we did so coming from a very broad idea of what we wanted it to be. We just wanted to see if we could do it. We wanted to fire off this pet project and control everything from the content to the marketing and creation of a brand. There were no other tools like mybattalion available when we launched in early 2009. That has since changed, weekly I see new “gaming social networks” coming into existence. At first I was a bit irked as I see names I recognize on the list of creators/founders etc, but after awhile I enjoyed seeing what was around the corner. There are a number of impressive competitors out there some of which I think…rather I know have spent a substantial amount of time and money crafting their website, more so than we could currently afford to do.
Anyway back to the point. When we launched we knew what we had to be not what we were. Now that we have kind of found our home we are focusing on what we want mybattalion to be. There are numerous news sites out there for this content, we try to keep up with that, but it is not what we are. It has made some people anxious and think that the site is slowing down. Well in that aspect yes it is. We don’t have the time to regurgitate the information all over the web that is sent to us, nor do we have the time to dig thru thousands of forum posts. I am sorry we just need to move away from that model. The community which we have spent a lot of our time and money developing tools to share themselves with are going to have to take the reins on this.
mybattalion is about the users, their content, their images, their questions. That is what we want it to be and that is what it will be. Our focus is on improving the tools our community has to share information across a niche interest, not information gathering.
That being said there are some very cool updates coming in the next year, and I expect to see an explosion in the site when our…product(s) truly drop.
I look forward to seeing those of you going at adepticon and maybe we can knock back a few beers and throw some dice.
Thanks all for you continued support!

Well said. I agree about the news. It’s nice to have all your info in one place but it’s too hard to search through everything to find it. We’ve developed a great community and I’m pleased to be a part of it and to be given a measure of responsibility behind the scenes. I hope we keep growing and becoming one of the best gaming sites and best online communities on the internet. To the future!
